Description
Thermory's thermo aspen STP cladding pairs a refined tongue and groove profile with heat-treated aspen in a warm honey-brown. The natural thermal treatment lowers the timber's moisture content, giving it a tough, rot-resistant structure that releases no resin in the heat and humidity of a sauna, while the straight, knot-free grain carries a pleasant, toasted scent. The boards are 15 mm thick and 120 mm wide with a 110 mm effective width; the STP profile's narrow grooves and rounded edges create a soft, even surface, and grooves on the reverse let condensation drain to the floor. Each pack holds six boards, in 2100 mm or 2400 mm lengths.

Timber
Thermo aspen is created by heat-treating the soft timber. The natural process reduces the wood's moisture levels, giving it a tough, rot-resistant structure that does not secrete resin in the high temperatures and moisture-rich environment of a sauna. It has a pleasant, toasted scent, a honey-brown colouration and a straight, knot-free grain.
Profile
The STP profile presents an elegant wall surface with narrow gaps between boards; its rounded front edges read softer than our Kallio or STS4 profiles. Grooves on the reverse of each panel allow condensed steam to run down and drain to the floor, and STP boards can be combined with other profiles to create contrast in the space.
Quality & Wastage
This is A-grade timber, durable and knot-free with a low risk of splintering. We recommend a wastage allowance of 15% for thermo aspen cladding, which also covers the risk of minor damage in transit. As a natural product, timber shows some colour variation between packs and batches, and general sauna wood grading standards apply; grading rules for each timber type are published on our website. Our interactive Cladding Calculator can help you estimate quantities.
Installation & Care
An Installation and Maintenance Guide for our sauna wood cladding is available under the Downloadable Files tab. The tongue and groove boards are straightforward to fit, which makes them well suited to DIY sauna projects, and the cladding is also suitable for other interior finishes.
Brand
Thermory, founded in Estonia in 1997, is the largest manufacturer of thermally modified wood in the world; its chemical-free, heat-treated timber is complemented by a wide range of untreated sauna woods.
