Description
Thermory's SHP bench boards in thermo spruce give sauna seating a warm golden-brown tone, the result of heat treating natural spruce. SHP is the standard profile for bench boards: a rectangular section with R3 radiused corners, cut at a full 26 mm thickness to resist warping and twisting over time. The thermo treatment improves durability and removes the resin, so there is no risk of weeping from the knots, and the boards can be brushed for an aged, rustic effect. Each pack contains four boards at 26 × 90 mm in 2100 mm or 2400 mm lengths, well suited to a DIY build; for a made-to-measure seat, our bench fabrication service can create the complete system for you.

Timber
Thermo spruce has a natural golden-brown tone created by heat treating natural spruce. The thermo treatment makes the wood more durable and removes the resin, so there is no risk of weeping from the knots, and the boards can be brushed to create an aged wood effect for a rustic look.

SHP is the standard timber profile for sauna bench boards: a rectangular section with radiused corners, usually R2, R3 or R4 (a 2 mm, 3 mm or 4 mm radius on each corner). The radius value describes the smoothness of the board edge, and the 26 mm thickness is important to prevent warping and twisting over time.
Quality & Wastage
Our thermo spruce sauna timber is AB-grade, durable and with a low risk of splintering. We recommend a wastage allowance of 15% for these SHP bench boards, which also covers any risk of damage in transit. As a natural product, timber shows some colour variation between packs and batches. Timber orders ship on a palletised service because of their size and length, with costs calculated at checkout; rates differ between UK Mainland, Highland and Island postcodes, and delivery may be a kerbside drop requiring goods to be handballed off the vehicle. We normally ship lengths of up to 2400 mm; longer lengths increase shipping costs significantly. If we do not stock the length you need but hold a longer one, our cutting service can cut it down for a small fee: you purchase the full length and the off-cut travels on the pallet.
