Description
Thermory's STP cladding is a refined choice for the walls and ceiling of a sauna, cut from thermo alder with its warm hazel-brown colour and subtle grain. The tongue and groove boards fit together easily, while narrow grooves and rounded front edges give the finished surface a soft, even rhythm. Grooves on the reverse of each panel let condensed steam run down and drain to the floor. Each pack holds six boards, 15 mm thick and 90 mm wide with 80 mm of effective coverage, in lengths of 2100 mm or 2400 mm. Because the alder is thermally modified it resists warping and twisting, and it will not splinter or overheat in sauna temperatures.

Timber
Thermo alder has a hazel-brown colour and a subtle texture favoured by many. Like other heat-treated timbers it carries a low risk of warping and twisting, and it will not splinter or overheat at sauna temperatures. Timber is a natural product, so some colour variation between boards, packs and batches should be expected.
Profile
STP offers an elegant wall surface with narrow gaps between each board. Its rounded front edges give a softer appearance than our Kallio or STS4 cladding, and grooves behind each panel allow condensed steam to run down and drain to the floor. Like all our cladding profiles, STP can be combined with other options to achieve your own look.
Quality & Wastage
Our thermo alder is A-grade: durable, knot-free and with a low risk of splintering. We recommend a wastage allowance of 15%, which also covers the small risk of damage in transit. Our interactive cladding calculator on finnmarksauna.com can help you estimate quantities. General sauna wood grading standards apply to this timber.
Installation & Care
The boards are well suited to a DIY sauna build, and the tongue and groove profile is also suitable for other interior finishes. Other timbers are available across our wider sauna wood cladding collection if you are matching an existing scheme. An Installation and Maintenance Guide is available under the Downloadable Files tab on this page.
Brand
Made by Thermory of Estonia, founded in 1997 and the world's largest manufacturer of thermally modified wood, whose fully natural heat treatment uses no chemicals.
Ordering & Delivery
Timber orders ship on a palletised service because of their size, and delivery may be kerbside with some handballing off the vehicle. Shipping is calculated at checkout and varies between UK Mainland, Highland and Island postcodes. We ship lengths up to 2400mm at standard rates; if we do not stock your required length but have a longer board available, our cutting service can cut it down for a small fee. You purchase the full length and the off-cut travels on the pallet. For longer lengths, the cutting service, or advice on sizes and quantities, call +44 (0) 20 8050 2895 or email support@finnmarksauna.com.
