Description

Description

Battens are the hidden weak point in many sauna builds, so we developed our own proprietary, thermally treated, specially shaped version. Fixed over the insulated and vapour-sealed wall, these thermo pine battens space the cladding off the vapour barrier so air can circulate behind the timber, and their chamfered profile lets any condensation run down the barrier, over the edge and away down the grooves at the back of the cladding. Thermal treatment turns pine from a durability class 5 wood into a class 2 wood: far more durable, more dimensionally stable, less prone to warping and more resilient to moisture. Each pack contains six battens at 26 mm thick, 68 mm wide and 2.4 m long, ready for the cladding to be fixed on top.

Features

  • Proprietary drainage shape: The chamfered, rhombus-like profile lets condensation run off rather than sit against the timber.
  • Thermally treated pine: Heat treatment lifts pine from durability class 5 to class 2 for a far longer service life.
  • Creates a ventilation gap: Spaces the cladding off the vapour barrier so air circulates and the sauna lasts longer.
  • Dimensionally stable: Less prone to warping and more resilient to condensation and moisture.
  • Pack of six: Six battens per pack, each 26 mm thick, 68 mm wide and 2.4 m long.
  • Certified quality: AB grade natur timber with PEFC 85% certification.

Installation

Secure the battens onto the insulated and vapour-sealed sauna insulation layer to space the cladding off the vapour barrier. This allows air to circulate around the timber and improves the longevity of the sauna. Any condensation or moisture runs down the vapour barrier, over the top of the chamfered edge and down the grooves at the back of the cladding. Once the battens are applied, the cladding is fixed on top.
