Description

Description

The Narvi Kuru is a no-frills Finnish wood-burning sauna heater that brings Narvi’s quality-first ethos to an entry-level price, with a black painted steel casing, a glazed door and cool wooden handles. Its low build fits more easily into smaller or awkward spaces and spreads the steam lower and more evenly within the sauna, making it a natural choice for a garden or wilderness sauna cabin. It is offered as the Kuru 14 for steam rooms of 8–14 m³ and the Kuru 20 for 10–20 m³, with three water-tank versions of the Kuru 20 for warm washing water: the VSE with a 16 litre tank behind the firebox, and the VSO and VSV with an 18 litre tank on the right or left side. A through-the-wall version of the Kuru 14 is listed separately, and a suitable flue kit and 35–40 kg of sauna stones are purchased separately.

Features

  • Honest Finnish quality: A no-frills, entry-level Narvi stove that does not compromise on materials or build.
  • Two sizes: The Kuru 14 heats steam rooms of 8–14 m³ and the Kuru 20 10–20 m³, with 35 kg and 40 kg stone capacities.
  • Water tank options: The Kuru 20 VSE carries a 16 litre tank behind the firebox; the VSO and VSV carry an 18 litre tank on the right or left.
  • Even steam distribution: The heater's low height spreads the steam lower and more evenly within the sauna.
  • Comfort in the details: A glazed door shows the flames and wooden handles stay cool during use.
  • Durable black steel casing: The painted finish aids uniform heat radiation and protects the heater.
  • Sold separately: A suitable flue kit and 35–40 kg of 10–15 cm sauna stones are purchased in addition; a Kuru 14 through-the-wall version is listed separately.

Installation

The Kuru connects to the chimney from the top via a 119 mm connective flue, with the connection centred 120 mm from the rear edge and set 473–500 mm above the floor depending on the feet. The smoke flue must meet class T600, a modular flue must be CE-marked, and the recommended minimum draught is 12 Pa. The heater may stand directly on a concrete floor at least 50 mm thick; combustible or tiled floors, or floors with underfloor heating, require an installation base with a metal plate extending 400 mm in front of the firebox, and clearances can be reduced with protective screens as set out in the manual. We recommend the Kota Insulated Steel Flue/Chimney Kit. Installation must follow the installation manual in the Downloads tab and local building regulations, and we recommend that the heater is fitted by a suitably qualified installer.

Sauna stones

The Kuru 14 takes 35 kg and the Kuru 20 models 40 kg of 10–15 cm sauna stones, sold separately; olivine dolerite or vulcanite stones are recommended, washed before use and stacked loosely so air can circulate between them.
