Description
Kingspan Sauna-Satu, previously sold as SPU Sauna-Satu, is a polyurethane insulation board designed specifically for the walls and ceilings of a sauna and the roof surfaces of wet rooms. An aluminium laminate on both faces reflects heat back into the room and gives a water vapour resistance many times higher than 0.2 mm plastic film, so no separate vapour barrier is required. The lightweight 30 × 600 × 1200 mm boards carry full tongue-and-groove edging and withstand continuous temperatures of +100 °C, conditions under which traditional PIR boards degrade. Boards are sold individually with a minimum order of five; seal the joints with sealing tape and joint glue, sold separately, to achieve a complete water seal.

Why sauna-specific insulation
Kingspan advises using Sauna-Satu in preference to traditional PIR insulation boards, which degrade at the temperatures present in most saunas and, according to the manufacturer, can release hydrogen cyanide when they thermally degrade.
Fire performance
Kingspan insulated solutions meet their fire regulations. In the event of a fire, Sauna-Satu chars slowly, and the carbonised layer slows the penetration of fire into the insulation layer.
Moisture safety
The boards do not shrink, rot or mould, and they are designed to withstand hot, humid conditions extremely well; structures exposed to moisture should still be handled with care. A complete water seal is achieved by using sealing tape on the joints together with joint glue. An installation guide is available on request.
Delivery
Insulation boards are shipped through courier freight networks and, despite careful packaging and fragile labelling, minor nicks and dents to corners and edges can occur in transit. These do not affect the boards' integrity or performance once installed with tape and insulation foam (such as Exact Gap Foam or Pinkgrip), so claims are only considered for catastrophic damage such as large missing sections of foam.
