Description
The HUUM STEEL is a slim, floor-standing electric sauna heater whose optimised structure allows safety distances of just 50 mm from the sides on the 6 kW model, making it a natural choice where space is tight. Its tall stainless-steel column holds a remarkable 150 kg of stones for a soft, long-lasting steam, and an internal air duct at its centre speeds up heating by around 25%. It is available in 6 kW, 9 kW and 10.5 kW outputs, covering sauna rooms of 5–16 m³, and connects to either a single-phase 230 V or three-phase 400 V supply. A HUUM UKU control console (Local or Wi-Fi) and around 150 kg of 3–5 cm rounded olivine diabase stones are required and sold separately; for smaller rooms there is also the wall-mounted STEEL Mini.

Installation
Installation and maintenance must be carried out by a certified electrician, with the electricity supply isolated at the fuse panel before any work begins. Under IEC 60364-7-703 and BS 7671:2018 an electric sauna heater does not have to be connected through an RCD, and for reliable operation the manufacturer recommends that the heater supply is not run through one; other electrical devices in the sauna room should be RCD protected. A local point of isolation covering all live conductors is recommended. The installation manual in the Downloads tab and local wiring regulations must be followed. The connection cable must be heat-resistant rubber-insulated cable (SIHF-JB or equivalent); PVC-insulated cable must not be used, and any junction box in the sauna room must be waterproof and mounted no higher than 500 mm from the floor. When sizing the heater, add 1 m³ of calculated room volume for every square metre of uninsulated brick, tile, glass or log wall in the sauna room. The STEEL stands on four adjustable legs and is fixed to the floor with the included brackets. A safety railing around the heater is recommended, and a diagram of the safety distances is provided in the image gallery.
Sauna stones
The STEEL requires approximately 150 kg of 3–5 cm stones, sold separately; rounded olivine diabase or olivine stones are recommended. Wash the stones before use and lay them one by one, keeping the air tunnel free of stones and making sure neither the air tunnel nor the tops of the heating elements remain visible, otherwise the stated safety distances no longer apply.
