Our hemlock bench boards bring a light, warm colour with subtle reddish brown undertones to the sauna bench, carried in a knot-free grain. Hemlock offers good structural properties, high durability and strong resistance to warping and cracking, and it needs relatively little maintenance. Each pack contains four boards in the SHP profile at 26 × 90 mm and 2400 mm long. They are well suited to a DIY bench build, or our bench fabrication service can craft them into a complete sauna bench system.

Timber
Hemlock has a light, warm colour with a touch of reddish brown undertones in its knot-free grain. It is fairly low maintenance, with good structural properties, high durability and resistance to warping and cracking, which makes it well suited to sauna interiors. As a natural product, timber shows some colour variation between packs and batches.
Profile
SHP is the standard profile for sauna bench boards: a rectangular section with radiused corners, usually R2, R3 or R4 (a 2 mm, 3 mm or 4 mm radius on each edge). The 26 mm thickness is important, helping to prevent warping and twisting over time.
Quality & Wastage
Our hemlock timber is A-grade: durable, relatively knot free and with a low risk of splintering. We recommend a wastage allowance of 20%, which also covers the risk of damage in transit. Our wastage allowance guide and interactive calculator on finnmarksauna.com will help you work out quantities.
Bench Fabrication
These boards suit DIY bench building. Alternatively, our sauna bench fabrication service can design and build your ideal bench system from them.
Ordering & Delivery
Timber orders travel on a palletised shipping service and may require a kerbside drop. We normally ship lengths of up to 2400 mm. If you need a shorter length than we stock, our cutting service can cut a longer board down for a small fee; the off-cut is added to the pallet.
