Description
Thermory's STP cladding in dark thermo alder offers a refined, softly finished surface for sauna walls and ceilings. Narrow grooves and rounded front edges give the boards a gentler appearance than angular profiles, while grooves behind each panel allow condensed steam to run down and drain to the floor. The rich chocolate brown colour and strong, toasted scent come from intense, natural thermal modification, making this a premium, easy-care timber. Each pack holds six tongue and groove boards at 15 × 85 mm with a 75 mm effective width, in 2100 mm or 2400 mm lengths.

Timber
Dark thermo alder has a striking dark chocolate brown colour and a strong, toasted scent, the result of intense, fully natural thermal modification. It is a premium timber: elegant, easy to keep clean and well suited to saunas with a contemporary look. As a natural product, timber shows some colour variation between packs and batches.
Profile
STP offers an elegant wall surface with narrow gaps between boards. Its rounded front edges give a softer appearance than the Kallio or STS4 profiles, and the grooves behind each panel allow condensed steam to run down and drain to the floor. Like all our cladding profiles, STP can be combined with other options to achieve your own look.
Quality & Wastage
Our dark thermo alder timber is A-grade: durable, knot free and with a low risk of splintering. We recommend a wastage allowance of 20–25% for these cladding boards, which also covers the risk of damage in transit. Our wastage allowance guide and interactive calculator on finnmarksauna.com will help you work out quantities. The general sauna wood grading standards apply; grading rules for each timber type are published on finnmarksauna.com.
Installation & Care
The tongue and groove boards are easy to install and well suited to DIY sauna projects, as well as other interior finishes. An installation and maintenance guide for our sauna wood cladding is available in the Downloads section of this page.
Brand
Thermory, founded in Estonia in 1997, is the world's largest manufacturer of thermally modified wood. Its fully natural, chemical-free thermal modification sits alongside a wide selection of untreated sauna timber.
Ordering & Delivery
Timber orders travel on a palletised shipping service and may require a kerbside drop. We normally ship lengths of up to 2400 mm. If you need a shorter length than we stock, our cutting service can cut a longer board down for a small fee; the off-cut is added to the pallet. For longer lengths, the cutting service or advice on quantities, contact support@finnmarksauna.com or call +44 (0) 20 8050 2895.
